My 2013

So I found some time today to visit the hair salon to have a haircut! Kind of lazy and have no inspiration to think of what to do with regards to my dissertation, so I'll leave it till later. Let me sum up my 2013 and 2014 resolutions in this post!

 Before I start I actually went to read last year's post, and these were my 2013 resolutions.

1. To be more grateful and complain less. 
2. To maintain and improve current relationships and forge new ones.
3. To enjoy the study process.
4. Korea Summer Program
5. To do more of the things i like.

Well...I would say I didn't really achieve #1 and #2. I mean, I still complain a lot. About school, about work and whats not. I did make new friends in 2013 but it's really quite a minimum. And most of them are probably just friends who were put into my life just at that point of time and not meant to be friends till in the future. #3 is not entirely true, but I guess I learnt how to take studies more easy. I feel that as i progress towards a new semester, I'm more and more chill. Last semester was especially scary because I felt that I was too chill? Lol. #4 came true!!! And #5 is somewhat achieved too I guess. All in all, not too bad i'd say?

Anyway, 2013 is a year that zoomed by really fast and I'm still a bit unsure what has happened in this one year. One of the worst downs in 2013 was losing Lightning. My beloved Lightning who will always have a place in my heart. I still tear whenever I think of him. Blaming myself for not being able to give him more. Wished he is still here and all. I can never forgive myself for leaving him to brush my teeth before heading out to the vet because it was that instant that he left and I wasn't there when he had his last breath.

Second was 'Kitty' who left as well. This time I wasn't there as well as I was at work while my family decided to put an end to her pain. 'Kitty' whom I did not bond with as much but has a place in my heart as well.

Those were the only events that made me cry and cry in the toilet where nobody can see. Other events that made me stressed/troubled were just little obstacles that I had to just get over with.

One of the most awesome things that happened in 2013 was that I finally get to go Korea!



And on a summer program somemore! 5 weeks without family or friends except Rachel and Yvette. Thank god for the invention of internet, smartphones and laptops. Haha. It was an eye-opener being in a country with a different language and culture.

 Met new Korean friends and nice professors and TAs...

And even my penpal!

Life is good. Haha. That was the most memorable event in 2013, the rest are just school...


My uni friends! Yes, all girls, I don't really interact with guys in uni. And we usually only take group photos when we have freebies. Hahaha. That's us and our free red bean/chendol ice cream and file with the milo van in the background. We even requested to change our yellow files to other colours we preferred (red/blue). Lol!


And work....


At Makansutra event! There's one day mock interview, tuition and temp job at bedokpoint too, but no pictures for those.

And 21st birthday parties as well as maintaining friendships that are ever so precious!

Oh right, and 2013 was the year I turn 21 as well!

Nothing special though since I did not have any party and it was really near the exams.

Celebrated with the family as usual. But since it was my transition into adulthood, dinner was at Uncle Leong Seafood Restaurant. Ate till damn full and then still went to have ice cream at udders! Sister's friend was working so we had a bigger serving and a discount! After which they even bought a cake at awfully chocolate. No banana chocolate which i wanted so we settled for just chocolate.

Received textes and fb wishes but i especially liked those with lengthy messages! I think it's a bit personal to post them up but those few people were Lester, Liangquan and Eelin! ♥ Of course not forgetting my awesome friend, Ang Eeleng, who was the first to drop me a text to wish me! A special friend whom i can not meet for years yet text one another like we speak all the time. ♥ Also extra love to Carol, Wj and Lester for spending the time and effort to hang out with me and get me presents when i insisted i don't need anything. ♥ As well as friends like Kevin and Louis who treated me to lunch and bought me a bag respectively even though we seldom meet up. ♥ Plus family who gave me lots of love by showering me with angbaos! ♥

Simple but so grateful for having so many loving people around me!

In conclusion, 2013 has been pretty good to me. It wasn't as exciting as i hoped it would be but it's good. Trip to korea and maintaining a balance in life (school, family, friends, and even work). It would have been better if Lightning was still with me but i'm sure he's running free up there, somewhere now.

2014 resolutions? Nah, i'll just take life as it comes.

2014 will not be free of sadness/troubles/burdens/worries, but i'll make the best out of it!
