Late post: CNY + Valentine's + others

Recently there's someone who actually said, "So i heard that your cat passed away."

That's fine really.
Now, i can talk about it without tearing if i control myself and try not to think too much about it.

BUT it was so so so wrong when the person said that to me while smiling, like it's a joke. Excuse me, it's not funny. Not at all. I do not understand why some people can be that insensitive. Do you smile and say something similar when someone's father or mother or any loved one passed away? The answer is a clear cut 'No'.

Sigh.

Anyway this recess week was supposed to catch up on studies as well as projects and assignments. But i felt like i've slacked away most of the days. Laziness at its best. Now, recess week is almost over. Next week is Week 7. A month plus till finals, and Year 2 will officially end. Gosh, time really doesn't wait.

I've studied too much today that i feel like my brain is fried. Really need to do something else so i thought it should try to recall about everything that had happened which i haven't post about. After all, i wouldn't want to look back and realised i miss out so much of what happened and did not on note down on my blog cause i'm pretty sure ultimately my mind will be like a brand new sheet of paper.
White and blank.

Alright, so let's rewind back to CNY.

This year there's really the lack of the mood or atmosphere. Reunion dinner with family and visiting felt just like a typical family gathering. There's nothing much really, even the new year snacks seems so limited and so unexciting to feast on. But one good thing to note was that granny cooked my favorite mushroom + Facai which was missing last year! :)

First day: Visiting at paternal and maternal grandparents' places.
Second day: Visit paternal grandparents' place.
Third day: Visit paternal side's 大姑 and 二姑's places

Basically, although i was out, i've been seeing the same people for 3 consecutive days. Haha, better than nothing i guess.

On the second night we went to River Hongbao, and the first thing we did was to check out the 财神爷. Waited for quite a few minutes for it to shower the 'gold'. So many people, and a lady stepped on my toe. Ouch. Anyway it wasn't as fun as the last time i went which the 财神爷 then showered gold flakes everywhere like every few minutes. This year's 财神爷only spurt a few every 5-10mins for like 3 times at allocated times? And the wind practically blew everything to one side...
Apparently the larger pieces contain numbers. So you have to catch at least 4 of those larger ones to get 4 numbers. My dad caught one and combined with another who got 3 pieces. They were like, "Everybody huat together!" But in the end we didn't buy Toto or 4D with those numbers la. Checked too, the numbers didn't strike. Haha.

And there's all the pretty lightings and decorations...

Third day after going to 大姑's place, we went to the temple. And got to watch lion dance! Got daddy to take this picture though. I was being blocked by everyone. The result of being petite. -.-

Went back to school the next day feeling sian after having a long weekend. But SDE was awesome by having a February giveaway, where subway cookies and roses are given out!

 13 Feb 2013 - Subway cookies

  14 Feb 2013 - Subway cookies + roses
Haha, most of us didn't even want to take off the white thing in case the rose dies before we get home.
I gave the rose to mummy when i got home. Lol. It lasted pretty long though, like for a few days!

Went Utown to have Astons with Rachel and Bear for our lunch!

As usual, had a great time with them. I have to admit though, i was kinda scared when they bickered a bit on that day. I think cause Bear's face was not smiley smiley as usual. Plus i am scared and would usually avoid conflicts. Hahah. Thankfully, all's good. It's just their usual way of bonding i guess. :)

The goodies i got on Valentine's! Meiji strawberry chocolate from Rachel and ferrero rocher from Xinyu! The rest of the small chocolates were bought for charity. Haha.

Last Saturday (23/02/13) went to a family friends' place where my parents' secondary school friends gathered with their families. Their children are like my childhood buddies although i'm not very close to some. This time there's no a whole group of unfamiliar faces but just one. It's Bon's girlfriend! Everyone was like saying how small and young she looked, but it wasn't that bad laaa. Why is always people so mean to girls who look younger and smaller than they actually are or should be? Hmm. We played 'The Resistance' which i honestly think is very fun! As usual, army stories since we have one who ord a year ago, one who will be ord-ing this Dec and 4 others who are just curious boys. Haha. We also watched 'Coming Soon' which Bon claimed to be very scary where he and his army mates 'screamed like girls' in camp. Although we only watched halfway before heading for dinner, it was really....meh. Kinda boring and actually funny at some parts. Dinner at Jumbo was good. Super full. That wasn't all. Went to Bens' place after that till 4am plus. No joke. We played drinking game because there wasn't anything to do. Quite dumb actually, we were just spamming plain water. They wanted to play 'In Between' card game which involves money. Obviously, anything with money just count me out. After that Bon and Zon's family left together with Marcus and Cheryl's family, leaving just Darren, his dad and us. (the closer ones) But Darren being the oldest and 3 years older than me, he was playing mahjong with the adults.. I got tempted and made the Bens to teach my sister and i. We played using the mini mahjong tiles and table. Lol. Basically it was just a recap for me since i've learned a bit from the pros, liang quan and kian wei, during our chalet which was years ago..Oh ya, Ollie which is the Bens' dog, was super cute! Very noisy when we first came in, she even chased Cheryl around because she sensed that Cheryl was scared. Cheryl and her mum was like standing on the sofa screaming for help. It was quite a funny sight. Haha. Ollie's very smart though! She knows what's 'Sit', 'Left hand' and 'Right hand'! Super awesome. I was so in awe when i said, "Left hand, Right hand, Left hand, Left hand" and she gave me her left/right paw accordingly! Of course i had food with me la, otherwise she wouldn't even entertain me. Lol.

Oh ya, the only significant difference for this year CNY was that i had two steamboats with the usuals. One was at Bugis(26 Jan) with Wj, Carol, Lester, Lq and Zx. Another was at Goldenmile (8 Feb) with Wj, Carol, Lester, Zs, Rachel and Zx.

Poor quality photo, but aiya, just for remembrance sake.

So that marks the end of CNY for me. Just met the usuals again yesterday for dinner at Bedok85. Totally had a huge feast with hokkien mee, carrot cake, satay, stingray, chicken wing, oyster omelette, bar chor mee etc. The drink stalls people were all so competitive, a total of 3 people came to ask if we want drinks, and in the end we ordered from a lady who was quite cheerful and friendly. We even asked if there's discount, hahah, but she gave us an extra small cup of sugarcane. Then this drink stall uncle who technically asked us first but whom we didn't order from, was staring at us from afar, throughout our meal. Dora and i who can totally see him were quite freaked out by him. :/ To end our day, we even had gelato at an ice cream place where we sat and reminisce the good old times again. Had a good laugh.
:)

Alright, that's all!

The weather is back to being humid instead of the non-stop rain. I really don't know which i would prefer, but the humid weather is really killing me. Have been bunning up my hair almost every day now.
:/

Okay, bye guys, i'll update again soon.
