Hi, just wanted to do a random post and i thought i should set some resolutions for 2013 before school officially starts.
2013 Resolutions
1. To be more grateful and complain less.
Though it might sound easy and nothing significant, i would say it would take some effort and definitely would help to make me, on the whole, a more appreciative and happier person. Especially in terms of studies. I swear i am always complaining during school term. Hahah, partly because i really detest all those projects and assignments etc. So yeah, i'm going to make an effort to like them instead.
2. To maintain and improve current relationships and forge new ones.
Again, there is a need to be more appreciative of the people around me who are always there supporting me. There is no free lunch in this world, so in order to keep enjoying the good relationships with family and friends (and cats), i have to do my part to be a good daughter/sister/friend/owner as well. What goes around comes around. Also, as much as i prefer being the introvert me with the few friends whom i can count on (i'm very much contented with a few true friends who stuck around for years), i still have to forge new ones to widen my social network. Otherwise, in 10years time, i would find myself to be super lonely with no one to lean on but myself. Because truthfully speaking, sometimes forever don't exists. Sadly, friends do come and go.
3. To enjoy the study process.
This sounds lame. But i decided that worrying too much about grades seriously brings down my mood, my motivation, my health...and the list goes on. Why bother? I don't mean that grades don't matter or that i shouldn't study so hard. No. Because i know good grades do matter. A lot. Especially in Singapore. However, when i did my best and yet results do not live up to my expectations, i realised i should learn to be contented. Grades matter but it isn't everything. So imma enjoy the study process, because before i know it, i have to face another whole new (and pretty scary) world. And i know i would miss studying, so enjoying the study process would kind of keep the future regrets to a minimum.
4. Korea Summer Program
I want to go Korea! And i want to experience studying abroad! Korea Summer Program is like 2 in 1, kill two birds with one stone! I even read blogs and went to look at booths about student exchanges and summer programs. So. Tempting. Student exchange is for an entire semester which i don't think i can handle. 3-4months alone, in a foreign country with a foreign language....i can't imagine myself in that situation. Not to forget all the administrative things to do, such as credit mapping, finding accommodation, settling phone stuffs, money issue etc. On the other hand, summer program seems good! Just 5 weeks, and take only 2-3 modules! While it might be relatively expensive for a short period of time compared to student exchanges, it's more affordable for me. And there's subsidy, according to those people manning the booths. Now you know why i'm so tempted to apply for it. I would be super hyped up when i talk and fantasize about it, however, mostly i would just tell myself it's too expensive, and it may not be as fun as i thought it would be... Then again, i tell myself, hey, it's just a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Why do i always get bothered about money? If that amount can achieve so much more like, fun+experience+nicer transcript, why not right? Yeah, this is what i usually do. Debate with myself, in my head. Hahaha. No thanks to my enthusiastic and relatively rich friend who kept asking if i want to go, I tried asking my parents to see what's their view on this. They seem pretty cool about it. I feel really bad about the money though. Sometimes i just feel that my parents are struggling to support us, but just don't say so. I would like to say i will pay for it myself, but the meagre amount in my bank isn't enough. :( Although i lent my dad a few thousands of my savings in the past, it still seems wrong to ask him back for it or deduct from there, cause after all, my so-called savings are mostly their money too. And we're family, someone's money is like everyone's money, can't say that we owe each other right? Plus please la., that few thousands give to him also not enough to repay back the things that he sacrificed and did for me. And then at this point of time, i would start thinking about grades and job and pay. It's a vicious cycle really. Everything involves money. Money is evil. Bleh, shall see how. If no summer program, then i'll just find an internship to do and wait for that one day to travel to Korea. :)
5. To do more of the things i like.
I shall be less restricted by money. And worry less about grades and whats not. I have to live life! After all, i only live life once, so why so serious? Haha.
THAT'S ALL!
Actually there's a whole lot more i wish i can fulfill. Such as to learn driving, to travel to more places with peers, to have more adventures, doing extraordinary stuffs, to put braces, to get a waterproof camera so i can take pictures when i go to the beach/do water activities like snorkeling, and the list goes on. It's never-ending! But i have to be realistic. So i just listed what i could probably and want to achieve in 2013. I know all are very vague. But vague is good. Gives more possibility of me being able to achieve my resolutions.
