2 Day Melaka Trip!

So the weekend passed in a blink of an eye. 2 days was short, but i'm really thankful for the time to recharge. Studies was totally thrown out of my mind. Hahah. As usual, being the 大姐 of the family means I am given the task to do the planning. My main goal is to have the mille crepes cake, which I google-ed for directions and all, and had just a rough idea of what other stuff we can do over there in Melaka and what's near our hotel etc.

Being the 大姐 also includes setting the alarm and waking the whole family up. Tsk tsk.

I woke up at 6am but the time we left home it was around 7am. And then it jammed till about 8am? Hahah. The entire journey to Melaka took about 3-4hours. On our way there, we stopped for a toilet break, got some hot drinks and bought some fruits!

Buah Duku! This is the correct pronunciation/spelling. But what I usually call this is - Baluku (aka bruise). Haha.

Then I saw a bunch of super huge bananas! Got so amused that I started asking my family to take a look. And daddy decided to buy one to try!

So much bigger than my palm.

And our faces. Hahaha.

Anyway it turns out that it has to be cooked before eating uh! So we only ate it when we got back to Singapore. Mummy bought some banana fritters flour during our grocery shopping and fried goreng pisang! Hehe, yummy!

We reached Jonker street and searched high and low for this dim sum place which the sister found on Google.

We are a family of small stomachs! 5 of us shared these. Okay la, because the time was about 12pm+, they didn't have a lot of dim sum left. Everything including drinks cost only about SGD$10++!

The crazy queue for the chicken rice ball. The queue is forever like that, so we didn't bother having any chicken rice during our trip. We tried it once in the past at another stall in Melaka, but it was mehhh. Maybe this stall is better, but none of us were sufficiently tempted by the idea of chicken rice ball to join the queue. Maybe next time!

The weather at Melaka is probably worst than Singapore. Scorching hot!!

Made our way to Mahkota Hotel to check in! It feels like we're staying in a chalet instead of a hotel. We booked a premier room which looked like this...

Kitchen (no cooking allowed though?) and dining table!

The living room area!

One of the bedrooms with access to the common bathroom.

Another bedroom with another bathroom.

So shiok! It looks old but pretty spacious! One of the rare times where 5 of us need not have to squeeze on two beds like in Genting. Haha. Sissy and I wanted a bed each but the brother was not gentleman enough. Refused to budge his ass from the bed. We ladies ended up sharing 2 beds and the men had a bed each. Tsk tsk.

Pool view! We originally wanted to go for a swim but it was damn hot and there weren't enough towels....

Further away is a view of sand + river + sea?

Rested for awhile then we headed to the mall opposite our hotel, Mahkota Parade, without the brother who decided to sleep instead of tagging along. We actually had to jaywalk two huge roads to get to the other side (to my horror).

Search for Nadeje which is the place selling the mille crepes cakes! Easily found it by locating KFC first, then headed outside the mall...

and tadah!

Need to queue for seats so we paid for our order, did some shopping and then collected the cakes later. Tabao them back to the hotel together with some chickens and wedges from KFC, drinks and some tidbits from Giant.

Cheese

Double chocolate

Original

Royal Milk Tea.

Yums. Each cost us only RM9.90, which is about SGD$3-4 per slice!!

I haven't tried any mille crepe cakes in Singapore besides the one during Rachel's 21st birthday, but i'm pretty sure they cost 2 times as much as the ones in Melaka. Honestly speaking, Rachel's cake was unforgettable. Maybe it's because of the first-time-trying-mille-crepes-cake kind of thing. Hahaha. But Nadeje's mille crepes cakes are good too! What's amazing is that it's so easy to cut with just a fork! Unlike Rachel's cake, which I remembered it got a little messy cause it was difficult to cut since it was in layers.

After eating and resting again, we left at around 8pm and drove to Jonker Street again for the Night Market! We wanted to have dinner at some Teochew place which Yvette recommended, but after calling them to place reservations, they were already full for the day. So we gave it a miss. The Night Market was something like walking in Chinatown during Cny. Hahah, except less packed and at a pace where we are still able to stroll and take a look at the stuffs they street stalls were selling. Nothing much really, but it's nice just roaming around in the night. Definitely better than in the afternoon when the sun is too horrible.

Got back, bathed and watching running man on ipad with the siblings.
<3

Checked out in the morning and went to Jonker Street again. This time we walked from the hotel. Hot hot hot. Had brunch at the dim sum place again. Ate a lot more with more variety since we reached earlier. Total damage was around RM50+, which is only SGD$20+. 便宜到要死! Eat till full full somemore.

Cute orangutan on the wall. And the 3 tall people with tall legs, with me and my mum (short legs) lagging behind. Can you tell how hot the weather is from this photo? Haha, I could literally feel my feet burning. Resulting in the slippers tan line again.

THIS IS A LIFE SAVIOUR IN THE HOT WEATHER!!
I think it was so-so, but eating cold stuffs in such a weather is just heaven. The chendol was relatively so much better than the durian ice kachang though.

Then we slowly made our way back to the hotel..

The river.

The church and lots of the trishaws!

The journey back to Singapore. Fell asleep and then opened my eyes to the beautiful sky. I love fluffy clouds so I couldn't resist snapping a picture of this!

Had early dinner at Ah Koong. I was still quite full so I didn't order the noodles and only spammed the fishcakes.

Went to KSL City to do grocery shopping and then home sweet home! Jammed on the way back as well. Haha. Thank god for ipad to accompany the 3 kids in the back seat.

So all good things come to an end...Time to pull up my sock and get some work done.
