Week 12's little perks.

Hello, i am into the second last week of the semester. How time really flies...

SSB2216 presentation was finally over on 9th April(Tue). Thought our group presentation was kinda boring. Haha, we only managed to show two videos and there's no creative games or skits etc which previous groups did. Oh well, at least it's over.

Decided to discuss RE2107 project and also to collect our welfare packs. Glad that we decided to collect both on that day! Even though it rained and my AIA paper bag tore! -.- Fortunately it tore bit by bit, so only a few small stuffs like the sweets fell onto the ground of the bus, which the nice girls whom i was standing in front of helped me to pick them up. Haha. Managed to stuff the whole torn bag into the other plastic bag.

And oh, there was a Nescafe booth! The coffee was so nice! Regret not taking a second serving. Lol. Was expecting it to be there on the next day too, but unfortunately there wasn't any. Anyway we discussed about the project longer than expected because it was too confusing and we are all quite clueless as to how we should approach it. ):

Then we went to Rochester mall to queue for free cone at Ben and Jerry's! My very first experience queuing for free cone. Hahaha. And i can't stand some students who were eating and queuing for a second round. #toomuchalready

First thing when i reached home was to check out the goodies in the bags! Cheap thrills.

And then stayed up late just to do as much of the project report as possible. Got so dizzy from all the researching of information that i decided to take some time to do more interesting stuff like...a simple illustration of our site plan. I felt semi-happy after that just because of the cute trees i inserted using the 'cloud' shape and colored it green. Haha.

On the next day(10th April, Wed), I had lessons from 12-4pm straight without any breaks. Was so tired because i slept late the day before doing the project. -.- After which, Yvette and i went to have latelunch-cum-earlydinner at techno edge using our 50cents discount voucher and then headed to UCC to queue for the concert tickets. I think i did not mention it here before, but bg actually invited me to go watch a dance concert performed by the people staying in the various halls. He's staying in hall la, so he was involved in the concert. He actually told me about his dance rehearsals when i met him for lunch on 7th Feb(which i realized i didn't blog about, just remembered there was a milo van on that day!) and whatsapped me in late March to see if I am interested in attending it. Truthfully speaking, i didn't mind watching but was only quite reluctant because it's nearing the exams period and it starts at 8pm which is so late considering it's in the west, and i still need time to travel back. I didn't really want to make up excuses though, so i tried asking my uni friends if they are interested to watch it with me. Yvette didn't mind, and since i have company, i have no reasons to not go right? Hehe.

We actually queued for hours okay. Like at 4plus all the way till 7plus. It was quite stupid because they started giving out the queue numbers at 5 plus, and at 6plus going to 7pm then they started giving out the tickets. So ended up spending the whole time just queuing. -.- Hence, i went empty handed also. Not enough time to grab some chocolates or something. Quite guilty about it..

Anyway one person with a queue number is entitled to get a maximum of 2 tickets, Yvette and i got 2 each since bg wanted the extra tickets for his family and friends. Because of that i had to contact his brother to pass him the tickets. I thought i could recognize him, but apparently i didn't. We still managed to find each other in the end though. He actually asked us to join them since they have already started queuing in front of the entrance, and if we follow them we could get good seats. So even though it will be awkward, Yvette and i accepted the offer. I don't know why i wasn't expecting to see his parents, so i was quite startled when i saw them. Hahah. But at least i managed to greet them. Wah, and i tell you, they are super friendly! Especially bg's mother. Lol. She tried making conversations with me and even joked with me la. Like when she saw people placing their flowers onto this counter where everybody entering the hall have to put their flowers/plastic bags etc because they are not allowed to bring them in...she asked why i didn't buy flowers for bg!!

Then i started imagining the scene if i actually bought flowers...way too weird can! I just responded, "Huh! 他喜欢花吗??" Then we just laughed. Yeah, they actually spoke to me in chinese. Omg. My chinese-speaking skills super jialat can. All the time i have to process what to say in my head before speaking. Make me seem like i'm slow or something. Thankfully she speaks more than bombarding me with questions, so it's quite alright.
:)

I know i was feeling slightly awkward but i think Yvette felt much more awkward since she doesn't know them and had to pretend to be busy with her phone while i converse with them. So i really appreciated that she came with me!

And then the concert started at 8pm! Was so excited because it's been ages since i last attended a school related concert! The last probably being the band concert in JC where we went to support Yu Ning and Tahir. There was a total of 20 dance performances and all were quite awesome! You probably can't tell that most are non-dancers. They all danced pretty well, i'd say! Practice does pay pay off. ^^ Couldn't spot bg at first because i was picturing his usual image. (totally forgot that one will look quite different during performance) His mum who was sitting a seat away from me (his dad was next to me) even bothered to ask whether i can spot him and pointed him out for me. Hahah. Woa, new image leh! No specs and styled hair. And omg. Never knew he had a hidden dance talent! Too much already please. How can anyone be good in everything?! Studies, sports, music. Now even dance?! Super envy.

I was smiling like an idiot when he was dancing to 'Hoot'. It's so funny seeing him so....'slutty'! (as he calls it) I even heard his mum laughing so hard. Hahaha. I was mostly amazed la. As an ex-dancer, i'm pretty sure those moves aren't as easy as they seem. Super cheeky also k, spotted him acting cute and even pretending to lift his top halfway and then shook his finger indicating 'no-no'.

Hahaha. Now i see what hall has done to him.

And i remembered Yu Ning's hall started with K, and i mistaken it to be Kent Ridge, so all the while i was trying to spot her but couldn't find her amongst the performers. Until this dance performance which was very unique because they were dressed in lab coats and holding green and orange glowing chemicals, the background screen even showed chemical equations and all...and i spotted Yu Ning! I had to look really closely to confirm it was her. Haha, then i realized she's in King's Edward hall and not KR. Of course, i kept a look out for her in the following performances where she totally rocked the stage. Told her that the dance was so suited for her because she just had to put on her non-smiling face. Haha.

The whole concert ended at about 10plus, and I told Yvette to go first since her dad came to fetch her and i was suppose to stay back to take a picture with bg. The wait for him to appear was really quite awkward because we were just standing around, nothing much to say, especially when the friends were there too. His mother even talked to the friends explaining who am i. Something like, "Oh, she's his junior. But now his senior because of NS." I didn't know what to do, like should i pretend i'm not there or just smile or something.

Damn awkward. Lol. Oh ya, that was when his mother said they will drive me home later. I insisted that i can just travel back myself (using my poor chinese-speaking skills). But apparently i lost. I think i can never win such arguments, even with friends. Everyone firmly believes my area is so not safe.

Throughout the whole process, I just kept turning around and search for Yu Ning or bg in the sea of people. And bg finally came! It was difficult to converse properly la since there's his family and friends around as well. So he only said things like thanks for coming, how's the performance, where's my friend etc. And i just replied correspondingly. I even hand-signaled like...

when he asked how's the performance just because i think speaking would be awkward. Hahaha, come to think of it i'm so dumb leh.

First picture with my awesome-est senior!
:)

I look super cui can. This is what being outside an entire day does to me. (and my fringe :/) And flash!!! That's why i don't like taking photos with flash.
:'(

Had to pardon myself to find Yu Ning. Heh, haven't seen this pretty girl in agesssss!! Spoke for a bit and took quick self-shots together. Seeing myself via the front camera is when i realised my fringe was in a messy state all these while.
Oh the horror.

The trip home was quite alright. The friends were chatting with the parents all the way to Clementi mrt where they alighted. They were really nice, the girl who sat next to me even bothered to say bye to me. Haha. After that the mum made conversation with me again. Asking about studies, and even about my cats and how's my Genting trip with my friends. (?!?) Wow, I guess bg is really close with his mum.

All in all, it was quite awkward at times but i'm pretty glad that the parents, brother and even friends were all so nice and friendly. I wasn't even as scared as i would have been in the past. Either i've grown up or it's because i had Yvette's company. I do hope it's the former though. Haha. Anyway it's good that it turned out this way because i'm pretty sure it could have been worse if it's other people.

Did not regret attending it. For one, it was free! Just that it costs me hours of queuing la. Haha, secondly it made me reminisce those dancing days in secondary school! All those practices with my fellow dance mates, goofing around with them and performing on the stage. Aww, miss those days. And it made me ponder, what it would have been like if i joined hall. Seemed like it's so much fun! Bet i would have a wider circle of friends than i have now. Oh well. At least i tried asking my parents before uni started, it's just that they didn't allow me to... Anyway, i'm pretty sure my results would be damn horrible if i had to juggle between studies and hall life.

Had a 10am lecture on the next day (11th April), but thankfully it was a short Thursday without law lecture! Went to queue for one-for-one java chip from Starbucks and went with dad to sign the loan agreement for summer program. Just the Starbucks coffee cheered me up the entire day.
^^

K, this post is freaking long. I'll post about Daphne's and Sandra's birthday party some other time!
Till then!
